Artist's Description

Kachina Woman is an important guardian and protector in the Native American Hopi tribe. She lives in Boynton Canyon – Sedona, Arizona and her reason for being is to keep us mindful of who we are and how we are collectively called to interact within our world

A Kachina (kah-chee-nah) is a spiritual being central to the religious life of the Hopi Indians, who live in the arid highlands of northern Arizona, and have done so for twelve hundred years. The “Kachina Woman” is a particular spirit said to inhabit a rock formation of the same name in Boynton Canyon, near Sedona.

This site is said to be a strong Magnetic Vortex which is thought to be a swirling center of energy that is conducive to healing, meditation and self-exploration. When one encounters a vortex they may feel a range of sensations from a slight tingling on the exposed skin, to a vibration emanating from the ground. There is, however, no scientific evidence these vortexes exist.
